Lead Programmer Analyst - Revenue Cycle

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, the Lead Programmer Analyst – Revenue Cycle is a valuable member of our team who will develop and support all revenue cycle systems that the department is responsible for. The incumbent may be assigned to a project team as part of a technical build resource, or support any production systems to ensure the availability of the applications. The Senior Programmer/Analyst may also oversee the work of Lead Programmer/Analyst as needed. Responsibilities Provide support to all Revenue Cycle applications including Siemens INVISION, Cerner, Eclipsys, Craneware, HANYS, 3M. Provide technical and strategic input to the leadership team to help drive transformational changes. Provide recommendations on industry and application integration trends in analyzing and planning current and future IT needs. Establish architectural standards and frameworks to ensure that standards are consistently applied. Provide technical guidance on complex and cross‑application architecture challenges; plan an active role as a technical expert during all phases of the application development life cycle. Participate in architecture brainstorming and design discussions with team members; participate in all global and departmental process design activities with systems implementation activities. Coordinate activities of the technical and functional teams that include resolving system design issues, identifying technical and infrastructure requirements, developing testing, training, and conversion plans, and developing workflow documentation. Coordinate appropriate resources in the development of foreign system and instrument interface specifications; work closely with the Project Manager on all aspects of the project. Assist in developing detailed project plans regarding the build tasks necessary to complete projects; determine the order and timing of tasks, and develop and maintain environmental/domain planning according to project timelines. Assist project teams in planning and coordination of testing and training plans; identify the resources needed and the role of each member of the project team. Monitor projects continually in terms of the timeline and overall quality; facilitate communication between all parties involved in an implementation to ensure effective collaboration. Monitor the project status daily to predict problems early and isolate issues that need to be addressed; facilitate the resolution of issues within the project team framework and, when necessary, elevate major issues to executive-level steering committees. Support the OHPAC system. Qualifications Required : Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in healthcare‑related IT revenue cycle applications. Minimum three years of experience in a complex healthcare environment, preferably in academic medical centers or tertiary care settings. Verification of degree (e.g., diploma or official transcript) is required for this role. Upload of documentation must be included with your application for consideration. Preferred : Experience with Siemens Invision, Craneware, and Cerner applications, including PMOffice, AccessHIM, CPDI, and Batch Scanning. Experience with revenue cycle architecture, system conversions, interfaces, system migration with onboarding new hospitals, integration of downstream systems, SPARCS, charge reconciliation, charge master maintenance, reimbursement methodology, and reporting. Experience with OHPAC or Soarian. Experience in a hospital or healthcare IT environment. Experience with hospital information systems (e.g., Cerner, Siemens, Clairvia, 3M). Knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices. Additional technical, leadership, or project management experience. Compensation Anticipated Pay Range: $71,101 – $86,669 per year. Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as location pay for UUP full‑time positions ($4,000). Additional benefits include generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
