The Oscoda Area Schools announces a vacancy for a Mechanic Apprentice. Position: Mechanic Apprentice 30 - 40 hours per week Salary: $12.00 per hour Effective Date: To be Determined

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma
• Ability to obtain valid mechanic trainee permit
• Ability to obtain CDL class A license
• Ability to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of mechanical and or electrical components
• Ability to carry out color identification of wires
• Ability to follow directions (written or spoken)
• Self-motivated
• Ability to complete all aspects of the State Mechanic's Certification Program independently online
• Knowledge of good safety practices
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
• Must possess a can do work attitude
• Physically capable of working in confined and awkward spaces
• Ability to regularly lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
• Ability to use tools and equipment necessary to do required duties
• Ability to work continually on your feet

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of a licensed mechanic
• Drive vehicles
• Clean parts, change oil, change tires
• Body work
• Troubleshoot problems
• Follow standard safety procedures
• Maintain personal, public, and workplace cleanliness to protect all against all hazards
• Perform all other duties as assigned
