Physical Therapist Assistant – Outpatient

Delivers expert physical therapy treatment following the guidance and oversight of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Aids in the execution of personalized treatment plans devised by the Physical Therapist to target each patient’s objectives and practical requirements.

Guides, motivates, and supports patients in therapeutic exercises, functional tasks, walking training, balance exercises, and day-to-day activities.

Supports patients in the safe utilization of assistive tools such as crutches, walkers, canes, and orthotic devices.

Administers physical therapy modalities as instructed by the Physical Therapist, including hot/cold treatments, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and other suitable therapeutic modalities.

Carries out therapeutic activities and manual therapy techniques within the PTA’s scope of practice and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

Monitors and records patient responses to treatment and communicates any changes in the patient’s status or progress to the overseeing Physical Therapist.

Communicates with the Physical Therapist about patient advancements and helps make suitable changes to the treatment plan.

Takes part in discharge planning and reinforces home exercise programs and instructions provided by the Physical Therapist.

Educates patients, families, and caregivers on prescribed exercises, safety measures, mobility, and continuity of the therapeutic program at home.

Documents patient care, treatment provided, patient response, and applicable charges in the digital medical record.

Ensures compliance with relevant New York State regulations, facility policies, safety procedures, and professional standards.

Education: Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program resulting in an Associate’s degree.

Licensure: Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligibility for licensure as required by New York State.

Certification: CPR Certification required.

Training: Completion of yearly mandatory safety in-services and/or trainings as well as yearly HealthStream e-Learning courses.

Experience: Previous outpatient or clinical experience preferred. Recent graduates may be considered.

Effective problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Capability to work efficiently as part of a diverse healthcare team.

Aptitude for prioritizing work, time management, and adapting to changes in patient volume and operational requirements.

Demonstrated compassion, professionalism, and patient-centered care.

Hourly Rate: $25.00–$32.00 per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Location: Onsite – Montour Falls, NY 14865

Shift: Days/Evenings FLEX. Anticipated schedule will be assigned during operational hours of 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends. Call as required.

Travel Requirements: Local travel may be required to support outpatient therapy needs at various area locations.
