Yard Operator

Position: Yard Operator


Salary - $27.43 per hour

Shift - 12 Hour Rotation, 645am-7 pm and 645pm - 7 am

SUMMARY
Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the Forklift and other heavy industrial mobile equipment; including but not limited to pulling and picking baled paper from the staging areas as per Mill production specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operates Forklift and other heavy industrial mobile equipment to transport and/or move, stock, and store baled paper material in a specified staging area.
• Required to work a 12 hour day and night rotational shift.
• Required to work through scheduled holidays.
• Pulls, picks, and stages paper bales based on production needs.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe stacks of stock in staging areas.
• Complete necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
• Adheres to daily production schedule.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Must be able to follow directions under limited supervision
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED.
Must be Forklift certified.
Minimum 3 years of Forklift experience preferably.

Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
Prior work experience driving heavy industrial mobile equipment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read, write and speak in English and follow instructions.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Required to maintain a current Fork Lift Truck Operator License.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work outdoors and is exposed to wet, hot/humid and cold conditions.

Must be able to work a 12 hour rotational position.
