About the Facility Iowa City VAMC VA Iowa City Healthcare System offers a wide range of health, support, and facility services for Veterans in eastern Iowa, western Illinois, and northern Missouri. This includes the services Primary Care, Mental Health Care, Specialty Care, Social Programs and Services, Telehealth and Whole Health services. Responsibilities

• Shall provide clinical Hematology/Oncology services, including comprehensive evaluation and management for hematology and oncology patients, both new consults and returns, in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
• Recording consults and return visits, and placing orders in the electronic medical record.
• Follow-up on lab tests and imaging studies.
• Coordination of patient care with nurse case managers and pharmacy to provide chemotherapy treatments.
• Bone marrow biopsies and aspirates.
• Shall provide post-operative follow-up. Shall be conducted on postoperative patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and on the wards. All cases will be discussed in morbidity and mortality conferences and will provide appropriate information for inclusion in department reports.
• Shall provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic. Procedures shall be scheduled for completion within 30 days of the date of the consult.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United State of the District of Columbia. Shall be full and unrestricted.
• Shall be board certified/board eligible by the ABIM in Hematology/Oncology.
• Must have a current copy of DEA certificate.
