Lee Health is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to provide coverage across our specialty practices located within the Women and Children's Medical Plaza off Bass Road in Fort Myers .

This unique PRN opportunity will support Endocrinology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, and Neonatal services. These practices are conveniently located right next door to one another , allowing you to work with multiple specialty teams while providing high-quality care to our patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant who enjoys variety, working with different specialty populations, and being a flexible resource for a busy outpatient setting.

What You'll Do

• Provide Medical Assistant support to Endocrinology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, and Neonatal practices as needed.
• Assist with rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, and documenting patient information.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Assist providers with clinical needs within the scope of the Medical Assistant role.
• Perform clinical and administrative duties to support efficient patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered service across a variety of specialty populations.
• Adapt quickly to the needs of different providers and specialty practices.

Medical Assistant Requirements

Candidates must meet at least one of the following:

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program within the last two years with no prior Medical Assistant experience required; OR
• Active Medical Assistant certification as one of the following:
  • CMA Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA
  • CCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant through NHA
  • RMA Registered Medical Assistant through AMT; OR
• At least one year of Medical Assistant experience within the past four years.

Set PRN Rate: $26.82/hour

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing an excellent customer experience in a team based environment while assisting in all aspects of medical practice under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician or physician assistant. This position is responsible for patient safety, performing phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens, safe operation of medical equipment, provides patient instructions, and for handling and administering medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policy and procedure under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant. This position is responsible for the collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information/data and maintaining medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include coordinating requests for information and prescriptions, maintain and preparing patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery. Late hours, holidays and weekends may be required. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor of the department.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED Required. Completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take national CMA (American Association of Medical Assisting), CCMA (National Health Career Association), or RMA (American Medical Technologists) medical assistant certification exam preferred.

Experience: Medical Assistant experience preferred but not required for graduates within 2 years completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take the national CMA (American Association of Medical Assisting), CCMA (National Health Career Association), or RMA (American Medical Technologists).

1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a physicians office or hospital outpatient department may be accepted in lieu of degree/diploma from accredited medical assisting program.

Certification: CMA (American Association of Medical Assisting), CCMA (National Health career Association), RMA (American Medical Technologists) preferred. BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) required (must be obtained within first 90 days of hire).

License: Not Required

Other: Medical terminology, communication skills and basic knowledge of computers required. Early/late hours and/or weekends may be required.
