Global Trade Compliance Director

HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW

The Trade Compliance Director is responsible for providing leadership and subject matter expertise on import and export compliance for an aerospace and defense company's global trade program while ensuring compliance with import and export regulations including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and CBP

This is a hybrid position based near Chicago, IL.

EXPECTATIONS

· Provide guidance and training on trade regulatory compliance across company operations
· Lead and manage global International Trade staff, projects, and process improvements
· Manage HTS/ECCN classification activity, including COO determination
· Draft, execute, and manage import and export authorizations
· Manage and approve ITAR exemptions and EAR exceptions for products and technical data
· Review and assess business unit compliance, including deemed exports and transactional reviews
· Manage third-party vendors, including Customs Brokers and software providers
· Analyze and interpret ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and BATFE regulations and implement best practices
· Serve as an Empowered Official
· Collaborate with management and business units to support all operating locations

ESSENTIALS

· Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) and/or CUSECO preferred
· Bachelor's degree in a related field
· 10+ years of global trade compliance experience (aerospace and defense industry a plus)
· Thorough knowledge of ITAR, EAR, sanctions, and import regulations
· Demonstrated experience with HTS/ECCN classification, County of Origin, valuation, tariffs, etc.
· Familiarity with DECCS, Snap-R, and ACE
· Strong project management, leadership, and communication skills
· Ability to lead and partner with dispersed teams globally
