Heavy Equipment OperatorThe Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, compactors and other pieces of equipment. Work to include UST/AST tank replacements, service station construction, hazardous material clean-up, remediation and emergency response.Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury or property damage.Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and proceduresPerform daily safety and maintenance checksClean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or requiredEnsure heavy equipment is safely and securely storedAdvise Operations of any requirements for maintenance or repairsParticipate in routine maintenancePractice workplace safetyPerform daily vehicle inspection – report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicles before and after each route.Ensure safe loading, transfer and unloading of materials to and from work sitesMinimum Job SpecificationsKnowledge of truck and equipment safetyKnowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, graders, and other heavy equipmentKnowledge of road construction and maintenance techniquesMust be able to perform physical labor activities while standing, walking or kneeling for long periods of time, which may include work within confined spaces.Ability to lift or exert force exceeding 50 lbs.Must be capable of understanding instructions provided in the English languageMinimum Training RequirementsValid CDL License, Class A or Class BHazmat and Tanker endorsedGood driving record, experience driving a variety of vehiclesAbility to pass a physical and drug testSupport a culture of "Safety First"TWICGood driving record, experience driving a variety of vehiclesMA and RI license for hydraulics/hoistingMeasurementsConsistently on timePersonal appearanceAbility to follow instructionsWork ethicCapacity to learn and apply new information
