Note: This description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator role within HDR’s Transportation Business Group. Primary Responsibilities Work under the direction of multiple project engineers to apply design, engineering and modeling techniques in developing transportation and water resource projects for local municipalities, state and federal clients. Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects. Conduct site studies, prepare site designs, contract documentation and graphic presentations. Prepare civil design drawings with BIM/CADD platforms for construction documents. Perform hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations and calculations; prepare drainage maps and stormwater management facility design calculations and modeling. Prepare Construction/Contract Plans, specifications, and cost estimates; participate in writing reports and technical memos. Support drainage design permitting and water quality assessments and calculations. Assess floodplain impacts and compensation calculations; perform bridge hydraulics and scour evaluations and calculations. Prepare cost opinions and write technical documents; support construction phase implementation of infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (or eligible); candidates without an EIT may be placed into a Design Coordinator role with progression to EIT. MicroStation/AutoCAD required; Civil 3D, StormCAD, Open Roads Designer experience preferred. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Adaptable to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments; excellent oral and written communication skills; self-motivated to complete tasks and learn new skills. Ability to work collaboratively in an office setting. Applicable experience in drainage design for highway/roadway projects, including plans, specifications, and permitting; experience in surface water hydraulics for channels or bridges. Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; familiarity with Bentley ConceptStation, Open Roads Designer, Autodesk InfraWorks and Civil 3D. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. Active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture is expected. What We Believe HDR is our company.
