Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3 12-hour shifts per week, rotating Hours per Shift: 12 hours, 1845 - 0715 Experience: 0 - 6 months of related experience License: Valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate FH Monitoring Must-Have: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) BLS certification through AHA Cesarean Section experience Epic experience Labor and Delivery experience Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Description: The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care using the nursing process. Care is provided in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures. The nurse monitors and evaluates patient functional status. This role includes utilizing the nursing process for assigned patients. An assessment is completed, and a personalized plan of care is established within unit/nursing guidelines. Nursing care is delivered while considering cultural and psychosocial factors. Organizing, prioritizing, and performing nursing skills appropriate for the patient population is essential. The nurse anticipates patient/unit needs. Demonstrating sound knowledge of the bio-psychosocial model is required. Effective communication, both written and oral, is necessary. The ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently is important. Attention to detail is required in examining clinical and numerical data. The nurse documents steps of care comprehensively and accurately. Correct medical terminology and abbreviations are utilized in documentation. Problems and progress toward outcomes are addressed in accordance with nursing policy. Patient education and discharge facilitation are key responsibilities. Timely and appropriate referrals are made when necessary. Resources for patient education are utilized while considering factors like age and culture. Collaboration with other disciplines is essential. The nurse supports unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities. Attendance at mandatory in-services and adherence to unit education standards is required. Variance reports are accurately completed. Independent judgment is exercised in planning operations and making minor decisions. The nurse works directly with patients and/or customers and interacts with other healthcare professionals.
