Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. (SGA) is searching for a Controls Engineer for a full-time opportunity with one of our premier clients in New Hudson, MI. On site schedule 5x weekly
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Controls Development
- Define controls architecture, platform, and functionality
- Defines and creates control algorithms for specific systems in a Simulink environment
- Develop and test controls performance through modeling, bench, and vehicle testing
- Integration and commissioning of prototype systems in development vehicles
- System Simulation and Modeling
- Formulate multi-domain models of mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems
- Analyze important performance metrics and system specifications from model results
- Model correlation and validation to test data
- Use models to develop and test controls algorithms
- System Hardware Specification
- Support design, selection, and integration of electronic components
- Communicate mechanical requirements of system to design staff
- Identify controller hardware to meet I/O and computational requirements
- Communicate wiring and connector requirements to support harness builds
- Interaction with current and potential customers regarding Pratt Miller systems
- Planning and program management on internal and customer projects
- Education / training
- Provide feedback on product needs and processes
- Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
- Be a team player
- Have great attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- BS or MS in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronic Systems
- 3+ years of engineering experience
- MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow
- Development Software and Tools for Embedded Systems
- MotoTron/MotoHawk
- Raptor
- OpenECU
- dSPACE MABX
- CAN Tools
- Vector CANape
- Vector CANalyzer
- Kvaser CanKing
- Vehicle level simulation
- CarSim/ TruckSim
- ADAMS
- Dymola
- Data acquisition hardware and software experience
- Vehicle and system troubleshooting experience
- Knowledge of automotive, robotics, defense, or motorsports industries
- Communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, LIN, Wireless 802.11, DSRC)
- Electric and Hybrid vehicle architecture
- Electrical/Mechanical/Hydraulic/Pneumatic system design and simulation
- Autonomous and by-wire design
- Actuator controls (motors, valves)
- Embedded C code development
- Position requires light physical activity
- Daytime schedule Monday-Friday with infrequent night/weekend work for project surge support and additional effort as needed to achieve deadlines
- Some travel as required or on-site customer work
