About the Job Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) - Job Summary Responsible for decontaminating, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilizing, storing, and distributing reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment. Ensures instruments are properly processed and maintained according to infection control, safety, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate, clean, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Monitor cleaning solutions and sterilization processes for quality and consistency.
- Organize instrument trays and ensure timely distribution to departments.
- Maintain inventory, restock supplies, label items, and submit requisitions.
- Inspect equipment for proper function and report defective items for repair or replacement.
- Maintain cleanliness and follow departmental safety, infection control, and quality standards.
- Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) experience.
- Active certification through CBSPD or HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM); certification document required.
- Travel experience preferred.
