Technology Operations Lead, Chicago, IL (On-site 5 days per week)

OVERVIEW

TalentFish is casting a line for a Technology Operations Lead to run the operational backbone of a fast-growing wealth management technology organization. This role goes well beyond traditional project management - you'll run the tech team's operating rhythm, manage IT finance and vendor relationships, drive cybersecurity and compliance readiness, and ensure every partner firm has a best-in-class technology experience. WHAT YOU'LL OWN

This role centers on four core areas: Operations - Running the team's operating cadence and project-managing tech workstreams end-to-end, from LOI through onboarding through ongoing support. MSP / Vendor Relationships - Owning vendor management and partnering with Finance on vendor spend and budget defense. Cybersecurity - Governance and incident response ownership, including hands-on technical firefighting when needed. Onboarding - Managing the tech-focused experience of new partner firm onboarding, from pre-LOI through post-close.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

8-10 years in technology operations, IT program management, or a related technical operations role Experience managing IT budgets, cost allocations, or vendor financials A track record of owning MSP or vendor relationships directly Foundational infrastructure and cybersecurity knowledge - enough to own governance, incident response, and technical vendor conversations; this is not a deep infrastructure engineering role Strong project management skills - comfortable owning initiatives, milestones, and cross-functional delivery Experience in RIAs, roll-ups or aggregators, wealth management, or multi-site environments a plus Executive presence - you'll represent technology directly to partner firms and work closely with senior leadership

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Run the technology team's operating cadence - meetings, reporting, planning cycles, and quarterly priorities Lead project management and oversight of quarterly initiatives and IT strategic projects Manage IT finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and partner firm IT cost allocations Own the MSP relationship - performance, escalations, and continuous improvement Own governance and incident response for the cybersecurity program Lead new partner firm onboarding to MSP, compliance technology, and core IT services Track and improve the partner firm technology experience Coordinate across product, engineering, and vendor partners to keep initiatives aligned and moving Own work management and project delivery tooling - evaluate, implement, and optimize the tools the team runs on Manage inventory of PC hardware and peripherals

LOGISTICS

Chicago-based, 5 days/week on-site - non-negotiable. Compensation Information The expected base salary range for this position is $150,000-$180,000, with total compensation targeted at $180,000-$200,000 depending on experience and qualifications. This role also qualifies for comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), and paid time off. TalentFish is committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity.
