Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience and an active CA RN license.

Details

• Work in the NICU of an acute care hospital with 320 staffed beds
• Care for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestational age
• Maintain a 1:3 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM
• Weekend rotation required and may exceed every other weekend based on unit needs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float to the Mother Baby unit as needed
• Uses Epic and Meditech charting systems
• Facility may cancel shifts up to once per two-week pay period

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• First-time travelers considered only with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Level III NICU
• Required certifications: BLS
• Preferred certifications: NRP Advanced, NRP
• Required experience with 1:3 patient ratio
• Epic charting system experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills preferred include IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC management, ventilator management, and therapeutic hypothermia
• Experience with high-risk deliveries and Level III/IV NICU settings preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including respiratory support, medication administration, and developmental care
• Support high-risk deliveries and manage complex neonatal conditions such as sepsis, seizure disorders, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Assist with procedures including lumbar puncture, ICP monitoring, and chest tube management
• Provide patient and family education, including breastfeeding support and developmental care
• RN scrub color is Royal Blue
• Free parking available on site
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they do not reside within 50 miles of the facility
• Travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state, and refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
• Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years are required
• Candidates must disclose any license or background check issues at the time of consideration
• RTO requests should be minimal to avoid delays in the offer process
• Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
