Technician Apprentice

Location East Bay BMW Location: 4350 Rosewood Dr, Pleasanton, California 94588 Summary In a learning capacity the Apprentice Technician assists the Service Technician with identifying necessary vehicle service and performing the repair, service, and maintenance work. This entry level position focuses on increasing knowledge, skills, and certifications to progress to a Service Technician. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists Master or Service Technician or Team Leader with examining customer vehicles. Assists with identifying necessary vehicle repairs and maintenance. Assists with estimating cost of repairs. Assists with performing vehicle repairs and maintenance. Documents services performed. Effectively utilizes available technologies to enhance customer experience. Learns to perform services efficiently and according to dealership guidelines. Follows dealership and manufacturer service guidelines. Assists Service Technician by requesting necessary parts. Maintains CSI at or above company standards. Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area. Participates in required training. Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system. Follows safeguards rules and regulations. Demonstrates the company’s core values. Complies with company policies and procedures. Observes all federal, state, local and company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic knowledge of automotive parts and systems. Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge. Technical training or commensurate technical experience. Basic computer skills to utilize timekeeping system. Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel. Valid driver's license. Eligibility for NAPA training, manufacturer training, state inspection or emissions training if applicable. GED or high school diploma (required). Associate, bachelor, master, or doctorate degree (preferred). Up to three years of automotive experience (desired). Desired Education and Work Experience GED or high school diploma required. Associate degree or higher preferred. Up to three years of automotive or related field experience preferred. Attendance Expectations The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds. The employee routinely talks, hears, stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle or feel, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Environment Demands Duties are performed primarily in the service area. Work may involve movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and safe operation of power tools and test equipment. Wages and Compensation Base hourly compensation ranges from $23.00 to $28.00 depending on skill level.
