Job Description

Job Description

Make a real difference in the school setting as a contract paraprofessional working closely with students in specialized educational environments. This full-time position runs through the standard academic calendar, offering an opportunity to assist learners who communicate in unique ways and may display challenging behaviors. You'll play a crucial part in supporting classes designed for a lower teacher-to-pupil ratio, helping students reach their full potential.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree, OR ParaPro assessment score of 450 or higher, OR 48 semester college credits (must meet one of these criteria)
  • Direct classroom experience working with children
  • Knowledge of IEPs and comfort supporting students with Autism or related disabilities
  • Preferred but not required: CPI training, de-escalation training, experience with significant behaviors, and CPR certification
  • Ability to pass district-required drug testing, fingerprinting, and background screening

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom instruction under the guidance of a lead teacher, reinforcing lesson content and providing individualized attention as needed
  • Assist students in developing communication and social skills, implementing behavior-support strategies when necessary
  • Read and interpret IEPs to deliver tailored support in accordance with each child’s needs
  • Contribute to a positive, structured, and safe learning environment, de-escalating situations and responding promptly to challenging behaviors
  • Maintain accurate records and follow all school and district policies

Enjoy the fulfillment of working school-day hours (35 hours per week, M-F) and knowing your skills directly impact the growth and well-being of students in need.

Ready to make a tangible impact as a paraprofessional? Begin your application process by completing the required questionnaire here, and notify your contact once finished. Take this opportunity to empower students and enrich your career in a rewarding educational setting!
