Labor and Delivery RN

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive care by assessing patients' physical, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs and collaborating with the healthcare team (Assessment).
• Create personalized care plans that prioritize patient needs and goals (Diagnosis & Planning).
• Provide evidence‑based, best‑in‑class care by educating patients and families, executing planned interventions, and following hospital policies and procedures (Implementation).
• Monitor and adjust care based on patient outcomes and evidence‑based practices (Evaluation).
• Work with the Clinical Manager to drive improvement, develop and evaluate performance improvement initiatives, advocate for high‑reliability principles, and demonstrate leadership by motivating, educating, delegating, and mentoring peers and team members (Leadership & Professional Development).

Qualifications

• Accurately and concisely document the nursing process in the electronic medical record, reflecting the implemented plan of care, patient, family, and healthcare team; ensure timely documentation in line with hospital policy.
• Adhere to all organizational and department policies, complete required training, meet educational requirements, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and legendary patient care.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN licensure in the state of employment.
• BLS required before patient contact.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire in step‑down and ICU areas.
• Unit‑specific certifications may be required.

Labor & Delivery Unit Overview

The Labor & Delivery unit is a 29‑bed unit handling approximately 3,100 deliveries and 2,100 ambulatory patients per year. It provides care to a complex range of patients from newborns to teens, young adults, and adults. The unit includes 12 labor and delivery beds, 4 high‑risk beds, 3 post‑op recovery beds, 3 surgical suites, and a 4‑bed triage unit. Patients are triaged, admitted, stabilized, delivered, or transferred to a level III facility as appropriate.
