Position Overview

A Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Tyler, Texas is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internal Medicine Physician to provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services to our nation's veterans. This is an excellent opportunity to practice patient-centered medicine in a mission-driven environment while serving those who have served our country.

The physician will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating adult patients in an outpatient setting, managing both acute and chronic medical conditions, coordinating specialty referrals, and promoting preventive healthcare initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient Internal Medicine services to adult veteran patients
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
• Manage chronic disease states including hypertension, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, and other complex medical conditions
• Conduct preventative health screenings and wellness evaluations
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging
• Coordinate care with specialists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
• Adhere to all VA, federal, and facility-specific policies and procedures

QualificationsRequired

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
• Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (ABIM or AOBIM)
• Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
• Current DEA registration
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Ability to obtain and maintain VA credentialing and privileging requirements

Preferred

• Prior Veterans Affairs, military, federal, or government healthcare experience
• Experience in outpatient primary care settings
• Proficiency with electronic medical records systems

Schedule

• Monday through Friday
• Daytime clinic hours
• No call requirements unless otherwise specified by the facility
• Flexible contract length available
