ROLE SUMMARY
Mphasis is seeking an onshore Proxy Product Owner to partner with the Schwab Product Owner and lead product definition for a dedicated Mphasis Scrum team. The role will translate Retirement Planning and 401(k) priorities into a decision-ready backlog and reusable domain API outcomes for web, mobile and other front-end channels. The candidate must combine retirement-domain depth, API modernization experience, technical credibility and responsible use of Schwab-approved AI tools.
Partner with the Schwab Product Owner to define product goals, priorities, roadmap increments, sprint outcomes and acceptance decisions.
Own and continuously refine epics, features, user stories, technical enablers, acceptance criteria, dependencies and non-functional requirements.
Lead retirement-domain discovery and translate 401(k) business rules, journeys, data needs, plan variations and exception scenarios into executable backlog items.
Work with architects and engineers to define bounded contexts, ubiquitous language, aggregates, entities, value objects, domain events and capability-aligned APIs.
Define API consumer needs, business operations, payload intent, validations, errors, versioning, service levels and channel acceptance criteria.
Connect legacy code, stored procedures, interfaces and existing APIs to validated business rules and target-state domain capabilities.
Facilitate backlog refinement, sprint planning and reviews; provide timely clarification so the Mphasis team can operate independently.
Use Schwab-approved AI tools to accelerate business-rule discovery, story drafting, Gherkin scenarios, documentation and traceability.
Validate all AI-generated outputs with domain and technical SMEs and maintain human accountability for product decisions.
Communicate scope, priorities, risks, trade-offs and delivery progress in concise, executive-ready language. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
10+ years in product ownership, business analysis or technology delivery, including 5+ years as a Product Owner, Proxy Product Owner or Lead Business Analyst.
Strong U.S. Retirement Planning / Retirement Plan Services knowledge, with demonstrated expertise in the 401(k) line of business.
Hands-on experience supporting API modernization, microservices, API-led transformation or domain-capability initiatives.
Working knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, Agile / Scrum delivery, backlog management and behavior-driven acceptance criteria.
Ability to read and discuss REST APIs, JSON payloads, integration flows, error handling, dependencies and technical architecture artifacts.
Practical experience with enterprise AI assistants or generative AI for analysis, requirements, documentation, testing or software delivery.
Excellent facilitation, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, written communication and executive presentation skills.
PREFERRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
.NET / C#, RESTful services, microservices and clean architecture.
Event-driven integration, messaging, SQL and stored-procedure-driven business logic.
BDD / Gherkin, automated API testing, CI/CD, security, resiliency and observability.
Cloud and enterprise platform concepts relevant to modern API delivery.
SUCCESS MEASURES
Decision-ready backlog with clear, testable acceptance criteria before sprint commitment.
Reduced delivery delays, story carryover and rework caused by requirement ambiguity.
Validated 401(k) rules mapped to reusable domain capabilities and channel use cases.
Measurable AI-enabled improvement in cycle time, quality, traceability or test coverage.
Clear stakeholder visibility into priorities, risks, dependencies and outcomes.
IDEAL CANDIDATE A retirement-domain product leader who can operate effectively with plan-services SMEs, Schwab Product, architects and engineers, converting complex business and technical ambiguity into clear, prioritized and measurable API outcomes.
