About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Required experience in Neuro ICU or Trauma ICU - Experience managing External Ventricular Drains (EVD) - Charge experience preferred Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Neuro ICU. The unit provides care for patients with neurosurgical and neurological conditions. This is a high-acuity environment with a significant surgical volume and turnover. The nurse is responsible for the management of critically ill patients and their needs. Key skills include managing ventilated patients, blood product administration, and central line care. Experience with emergency medications and acute stroke management is essential. Nurses will need to interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias. Knowledge of procedural sedation administration and monitoring is required. Those with trauma ICU or neurosurgical experience will be preferred. Applicants should be prepared to float to other units if necessary. The patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 2:1 both day and night. Additional support services are available, including physical therapy and pharmacy. Candidates who have experience in a teaching hospital setting will be given priority.
