Tech - Histology

Job Summary:
Performs tissue sample preparation for microscopic analysis, ensuring proper fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining. Maintains laboratory quality standards and operates laboratory equipment efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare tissue samples by fixing, processing, and embedding in paraffin wax.
• Cut tissue sections using microtome or cryostat for microscopic examination.
• Mount tissue sections onto slides and apply appropriate stains to highlight abnormalities.
• Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of histology equipment and instruments.
• Manage laboratory supplies, ensuring inventory levels and quality control procedures are maintained.
• Recognize procedural issues impacting quality and implement corrective actions promptly.

Qualifications:

• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Histotech.
• Hold and maintain HT or HTL certification through ASCP.
• Demonstrate proficiency in tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining techniques.
• Exhibit attention to detail and strong laboratory organizational skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and resolve technical issues.
