Position Information Title: HVAC Mechanic I (S) Agency: Agency Dept of Health and Human Services, Division Murdoch Developmental Center Position Number: 60050626 Salary Range: $39,244.00 - $68,679.00 Work Schedule: 7:00am - 4:00pm Location: Murdoch Developmental Center, Butner, NC This is a repost; previous applicants will need to reapply for consideration. Responsibilities Maintain and service all HVAC systems for Murdoch Center and satellite facilities including cold storage, the Oxford and Wright Path group homes, and the old ADATC facility consisting of seven buildings. Repair and provide preventive maintenance for all HVAC equipment (heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration) at Murdoch Center. Install new equipment as required. Assist with maintenance, repairs, and other work for other State agencies when needed. Execute tasks as part of the essential workforce during adverse weather and emergency events. Qualifications High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate. At least three years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling units, chilled water distribution, and control systems (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Valid driver’s license. EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F. Preferred skills and experience: Proficient use of hand and power tools. Working knowledge of the construction and operation of centrifugal and reciproc compressors. Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform repair procedures. Knowledge of pneumatic control systems. Experience with commercial DDC HVAC control systems. Skilled in commercial hydronic air handling equipment.
