Role Description the Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant: Occupational Medicine will provide direct patient care in an on-site clinical setting in Nederland, TX. This full-time role includes evaluating and treating work-related injuries and illnesses, performing occupational and regulatory examinations (such as pre-employment, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty exams), and documenting findings in accordance with clinical and legal standards. The Nurse Practitioner or PA will order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications as appropriate, and develop evidence-based treatment and follow-up plans. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals, communicating with employers regarding work status and restrictions as permitted, and participating in workplace health education and preventive programs. The role also involves maintaining accurate, timely medical records and contributing to continuous improvement of clinic workflows and patient experience.

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner license or Physician's assistant license in the state of Texas, with appropriate national certification (e.g., FNP, ANP, or Adult-Gerontology, PA ) and eligibility to obtain or maintain prescriptive authority.

• Clinical experience in occupational medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care, with skills in assessing and managing musculoskeletal injuries, minor trauma, and common workplace health issues.

• Proficiency in performing occupational health evaluations such as pre-employment physicals, DOT or other regulatory exams (if applicable), and fitness-for-duty assessments, with strong documentation and charting skills.

• Ability to order and interpret relevant diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, imaging, point-of-care testing) and to develop clear treatment plans, return-to-work recommendations, and follow-up instructions.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, employers, and multidisciplinary clinical teams, including the ability to explain medical information in plain language.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced outpatient environment, with effective time management, attention to detail, and adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and confidentiality, with a professional, respectful approach to diverse patient populations and workplace settings.

• Basic computer literacy and experience with electronic health records (EHR)
