Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

(Two positions available)

Qualifications:

• Holds a NJ LPN License from a NJ approved educational agent/institution.
• Successful completion of criminal history background check.
• Proof of US citizenship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified in both CPR and First Aid
• Must be physically able to efficiently perform the duties of the position. Any physical disability which would cause the candidate to be a hazard to themselves or to others is considered disqualifying.
• Ability to hear conversational voice, with or without hearing aid.
• Good vision, with or without glasses.
• Ability to follow written or oral directions.
• Knowledge of basic office skills, including proficiency in computer programs and record keeping.
• Must possess strong communication and human relations skills.
• Ability to relate to children of all ages.

Reports To:

School Nurse, School Physician, Principal, and Director of Special Services

Performance Responsibilities:

• Administers/performs prescribed medication/treatments
• Assists in the health-related needs of the student including self-care, hygiene, toileting, self-catherization, blood glucose monitoring and nutrition.
• Assist in keeping medical records of procedures
• Assist with the coordination of care between the parent, school and medical provider.
• Assist school nurse with health checks and record data in Real Time.
• Assist with daily care of students (i.e. taking temperatures, applying bandaids, applying ice-packs, etc.).
• Collect/file employee emergency cards.
• Maintain first aid kits for sport groups.
• Process student/staff accident reports.
• General office duties (i.e. duplicating, sorting, distributing, filing).

Salary:

$38,000 - $44,000

Full Time Staff are eligible for Medical, Prescription, Dental and Vision Benefits. Sick, Personal and Bereavement Day are included.

Terms of Employment:

10 Months

Vacation:

There is no vacation time allotted to this position.

Evaluation:

To be evaluated semi-annually in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of personnel.
