Positions are hybrid- or remote-friendly with a preference for candidates based near one of our offices: Portland, OR; Corvallis, OR; Bend, OR; Bellingham, WA; Seattle, WA; Tacoma, WA; Spokane, WA; Boise, ID; Denver, CO; or remote. What You’ll Do Create and oversee substation design deliverables from preliminary through IFC plan sets; deliverables may include one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring, general arrangements, conduit, grounding, equipment connection details, design criteria, equipment specifications, and construction specifications. Perform engineering calculations such as bus sizing, AC/DC station service sizing, cable sizing, grounding, and equipment selection. Coordinate with project manager and multidisciplinary project teams to support project execution. Assist with preparation of technical studies (short circuit, grounding, arc flash, etc.). Perform QA/QC reviews of junior engineers’ work and incorporate feedback from senior engineers and SMEs. Provide support during construction phases, including RFI responses and submittal review. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to entry‑level engineers as they develop substation design skills and project delivery experience. What You Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. 4–8 years’ experience specifically in substation protection & control, or physical design experience. Professional Engineer (PE) license. Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience in utility‑scale renewable energy projects (wind, solar, BESS). Consulting experience preferred. Familiarity with substation design tools (e.g., EasyPower, ETAP). The posted salary range represents the typical range for this position and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws.
