Behavior Support Assistant – EC Department Lincoln County Schools – Lincolnton, North Carolina Job Details Job ID: 5623396 Application Deadline: Open until filled Posted: April 2, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: August 6, 2026 Salary: $16.48 – $22.23 per hour (Grade 59, State Salary Schedule) Position Type: Full‑time (10 months, 7.5 hours per day) Reports To: Chief of Exceptional Children’s Services Job Description Behavioral Support Assistant (BSA) will assist students with behavioral needs in the EC Division. The position is permanent and full‑time, requiring a 7.5‑hour day that runs from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., with a 30‑minute lunch break. The BSA provides individualized behavioral support, models evidence‑based interventions, assists teachers, and works with staff and students to de‑escalate crisis situations. The role may involve working with multiple students at different school sites. Key Responsibilities Maintain and follow a service schedule for assigned students; changes only with agreement of the principal, teacher, and Behavior Liaison. Sign‑in and sign‑out on TACS each work day and at each school upon arrival and departure. Meet and escort assigned students to the classroom and supervised transportation when required. Document research‑based interventions used to support IEP and BIP goals. Implement positive behavior supports and maintain data collection for progress monitoring. Submit monthly suspension and expulsion data and assist in PRC 29 reports. Provide academic assistance: checking assignments, helping with test administration, and delivering individualized instruction under teacher direction. Supervise and cue students during group instruction to maximize instructional time. Plan and prepare activities that incorporate behavioral expectations or instruction. Supervise students during transitions and throughout the school building and during lunch periods. Communicate with classroom teachers, school administrators, and the Behavior Liaison regarding concerns or issues. Maintain professional conduct in all areas: communication, dress, behavior, technology use, attendance, and adherence to district and school policies. Assist substitute teachers with the implementation of the student's BIP. Maintain confidentiality of student records. Attend monthly Behavior Support Team meetings. Complete Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training yearly and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification. Follow school and district guidelines for crisis situations. Attend required professional development and departmental meetings. Perform heavy work requiring occasional lifting of over 100 pounds, frequent lifting over 50 pounds, or constant lifting over 20 pounds. Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Exceptional Children’s Services. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Meet the following ESSA requirements: Associate’s degree in any area, or 30 semester hours in any area, or A passing score on the WorkKeys Test offered at Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC). Specific required passing levels: Workplace Documents: 4+, Applied Math: 4+, Business Writing: 3+. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
