Reinsurance Specialist (Excess of Loss)

Role Overview We are seeking a talented individual to join our team at Guy Carpenter. This hybrid role located in New York requires working at least three days a week in the office. The primary responsibility is to manage an assigned client portfolio, ensuring timely follow‑up, accurate activity entry, and premium collection. The role collaborates with other departments to support collections, cash application, and timely settlement, while providing detailed accounting and claims information to support sales. Strong relationships with brokers, clients, and markets are essential. Key Responsibilities Manage assigned client portfolio, including timely follow‑up, accurate system entry of client activity, and securing reinsurance premiums. Collaborate with other departments to support collection efforts and cash application processes. Oversee timely settlement of funds to and from clients, ensuring compliance with all payment warranties and conditions. Complete assigned tasks accurately and in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Provide detailed client‑specific accounting and claims information to support sales opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and markets, understanding their needs and resolving issues effectively. Required Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in excess‑loss reinsurance and accounting, plus a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or risk management. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong attention to detail and ability to manage workload effectively. Demonstrated teamwork skills with a positive attitude and a proactive approach to improving processes in a dynamic environment. Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, consistently promoting and enhancing the Guy Carpenter brand. Preferred Qualifications Insurance and claims experience.
