Clinical Research Coordinator I - Neurology

Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The clinical research coordinator’s position focuses on industry sponsored clinical trials working in the John L Trotter Multiple Sclerosis Center. The clinical research coordinator will work in the lab of Dr. Rob Naismith, Professor of Neurology, as well as with a clinical trial research team of over 10 research coordinators and a research nurse. This is an opportunity to work alongside a mission to combat MS and help support over three thousand patients with MS. Our clinical research program includes dozens of studies sponsored through the NIH, Department of Defense, National MS Society, and various pharmaceutical companies. About the research: For more information on MS: Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Implements and manages all phases of study/protocol; ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and regulatory requirements; establishes record‑keeping systems; evaluates participants’ progress; investigates and reports adverse events; determines when to notify physicians, stop participant inclusion, or adjust protocols; resolves protocol management issues and recommends corrective actions; serves as liaison with funding or sponsoring agencies. Recruits and enrolls study participants; determines eligibility based on diagnostic criteria and participant interviews; develops informed consent packets; explains diagnostic procedures and treatment plans; administers and scores tests and evaluates lab and clinical assessments to ensure timely completion. Ensures timely completion of all protocol requirements—assessment, lab testing, procedures and treatments—by scheduling and facilitating participants; interprets collected clinical data; prepares oral or written reports and analyses, setting forth progress trends and recommendations. Collects clinical data under clinical research protocols. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Patient care setting. Physical Effort Typically sitting at desk or table. Equipment Office equipment. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education. Certifications Basic Life Support – American Heart Association, Basic Life Support – American Red Cross. Work Experience No specific work experience is required for this position. Skills Not Applicable. Driver's License A driver's license is not required for this position. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working with industry‑sponsored clinical trials. Strong ability to communicate effectively with individuals. Detail‑oriented approach to tasks. Conducted informed consent discussions with patients participating in clinical trials, ensuring they understood the study's purpose, procedures, risks, and benefits. Hands‑on experience with ECGs, blood draws, and lab processing. Basic Life Support certification (must be obtained within one month of hire date); online certificates without a skills assessment are not sufficient.
