Overview PLUMBER 3443 (A) Location: CITY OF LOS ANGELES, CA Job Type: FULL-TIME Salary: $118,097.00 - $126,511.00 Annually Department: ALL DEPARTMENTS Duties A Plumber does skilled work in the layout, installation, repair, and maintenance of sanitary and industrial plumbing systems, process piping, and fuel dispensing systems, including air, gas, water, industrial waste, gasoline, oil pipelines, and irrigation systems. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a recognized five-year apprenticeship as a plumber; or A valid journey-level plumber license issued by the Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety; or Six years of full-time paid experience as a helper to a Plumber with the City of Los Angeles. Education information must be included in the Education Section of the application. Completion of a plumbing program at an accredited institution may be substituted for each year of experience lacking up to a maximum of two years. Process Notes Applicants who lack six months or less of the required experience at filing may file for this examination, but they cannot be appointed until full experience is met. The positions of Plumber in certain departments require a valid Class C license at the time of filing. Applicants will be disqualified for certain DMV violations in the last 36 months. Applicants must attach proof of apprenticeship or license as required, and submit documents online at filing. Incomplete submissions will not be credited. Selective Certification Selective certification may require certificates such as EPA Technician Certificate (Section 608), Crane Operator Certification, Backflow Prevention Device Tester, or Chief’s Regulation 4 Tester Certification prior to appointment. Selection Process Examination Weight: Multiple-Choice Test - 100% The exam is online and proctored; it may assess Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, Judgment and Decision Making, Safety, Interpersonal Skills, Oral Communication, Job Knowledge, and related competencies. Candidates invited to participate will test from a remote location with a webcam. Instructions will be sent by email; failure to complete by the deadline will disqualify the candidate.
