Supervising Social Worker (County Promotional)

This recruitment is open only to current County of San Bernardino, Fire Department, or Special Districts employees who hold a regular, contract, extra‑help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, Work Experience Program (WEX) or intern position. Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to 6 months from the end of their assignment. Your County employment must be clearly listed in your work history. The Department of Aging and Adult Services, Children and Family Services, and Department of Behavioral Health are recruiting Supervising Social Workers to oversee social workers engaged in providing a broad range of social services to individuals to enhance their capacity for social functioning. Current vacancies exist in San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, and Victorville; this list may also be used for other vacancies as they occur throughout the County. Responsibilities Oversee and supervise social workers engaged in providing a broad range of social services to individuals to enhance their capacity for social functioning. Provide supervision, training, and mentoring to staff. Coordinate services and collaboration with other agencies through committees, work groups, or liaison roles. Maintain accurate documentation and reports in compliance with county regulations. Requirements Two (2) years of experience performing professional social work duties equivalent to a Social Worker II in San Bernardino County. Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework with at least half in upper‑division courses in behavioral science, psychology, social work, sociology, human services, anthropology, gerontology, cultural or gender studies, human development, criminal justice, or a closely related field. Bachelor’s degree in a qualifying area, or a BSW/MSW with Council on Social Work Education approval; completed coursework or transcripts must be submitted unless the applicant already holds the degree. For degrees or coursework earned outside the U.S., a credential evaluation report from a reputable evaluation service is required. Experience as a social worker in a setting that serves the elderly, adults with disabilities, behavioral health clients, or children and families. Experience providing supervision, training, or mentoring to staff. Experience on committees or work groups, or serving as a liaison coordinating services with other agencies, particularly in a leadership capacity. Note: Social Worker II Trainee experience is not considered qualifying and must be clearly distinguished from journey‑level Social Worker II experience.
