Summary Title: Data and Performance Analyst Job ID: 2121 Division: N/A Unit: N/A Shift: Days Salary Range: $83,000 annual Description The Strategic Data and Performance Analyst serves as the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s enterprise analytics and performance measurement resource, responsible for transforming operational, financial, and organizational data into actionable intelligence that supports executive decision‑making and strategic planning. The position analyzes data across multiple agency systems, including law enforcement operations, detention operations, human resources, and financial systems, and translates that information into clear, accurate, and useful metrics that help leadership understand agency performance and operational demands. This position supports the Sheriff, Chief Deputy, and command staff by developing dashboards, analytical reports, and forecasting models that provide insight into workload trends, staffing utilization, response times, jail population dynamics, program performance, and resource allocation. The role ensures that leadership has a reliable and consistent understanding of operational conditions and emerging risks so that informed decisions can be made regarding staffing, budgeting, infrastructure planning, and service delivery. The Strategic Data and Performance Analyst also plays a key role in establishing data governance standards across the organization. This includes developing standardized definitions for performance metrics, improving data quality and consistency across divisions, automating reporting processes, and creating enterprise dashboards that reduce reliance on manual reporting. Through these efforts, the position helps improve transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency while enabling the Sheriff’s Office to demonstrate measurable performance outcomes to the Commissioners Court and the public. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Advanced spreadsheet and data analysis tools Business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or Tableau Database querying and data extraction Data visualization and dashboard design Strong analytical and critical thinking ability Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to present analytical findings to executive leadership Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive operational information Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, public administration, information systems, business, criminal justice, or related field or Three years of professional experience in analytics, business intelligence, or performance measurement Combination of education and experience Master’s degree in data analytics, statistics, public administration, information systems, business, criminal justice, or related field (preferred) Experience in data analytics in the public sector and/or law enforcement (preferred) Prior experience analyzing data from Records Management Systems (RMS) or Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Experience tracking jail population dynamics, inmate classification, or correctional facility metrics Background working within county government, public safety agencies, or municipal budgeting frameworks Proven history of developing data dictionaries, standardized metrics, and data quality workflows Advanced proficiency in building automated executive dashboards High School Diploma or General Education Development equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age Must be a U.S. citizen and resident of the contiguous United States for a period sufficient to conduct a background investigation Must possess a current valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years No conviction above a Class B misdemeanor or a Class B misdemeanor within the last 10 years, nor have been on court‑ordered community supervision or probation for any criminal offense Must possess good communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and the ability to work with the public Must have reliable transportation Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office products Must be able to work independently or with a group Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure Willingness to cross‑train and accept additional duties as assigned Additional Requirements After receiving a conditional offer of employment, the applicant must pass a drug screen (cost: $26, responsibility of applicant) #J-18808-Ljbffr Montgomery County, Texas Government
