Position Overview This VP Product Development & Technology is the senior technical leader responsible for all research & development, product development, technical innovation, and project execution within the business. As a Senior Leadership Team (SLT) member, this position is essential to steering the overall growth direction of the company. Key Responsibilities Define Technology Roadmap: Ultimate responsibility for the development and implementation of the Company’s technology roadmap. Champion for Safety and Continuous Improvement: Drive Safety first and Continuous Improvement mindset across our technical organization. Build Agile High Performing Teams: Build a high‑performance organization of individual contributors, managers, and directors capable of executing Company strategy. Own Customer Relationships: Build and maintain senior level technical relationships at top customers. Use relationships to drive product innovation needs. Launch Product & Technology: Ultimate responsibility for developing new capabilities and launching new products into Operations. Project Execution: Responsibility for customer project execution for large‑scale CAPEX projects and OEM‑driven projects across multiple markets and industries. Protect Technology: Ensure compliance with CMMC, IP and Trade Secret protocols throughout the innovation process. Major Challenges Mott is a rapid custom solution provider, not an organization that develops one product at a time. Comfort in managing research initiatives, product development, customer‑driven work and project execution. Ability to work in OEM‑driven product development and one‑off CAPEX‑driven projects. Must prioritize across multiple simultaneous tasks to drive the best overall business outcome at industry‑leading speed. Must lead an agile team to flex and satisfy the requirements of six different businesses. Must develop a process to scale non‑linearly to headcount. Must translate technical, quality, commercial and operational requirement differences across six major businesses and translate that into an ability to capture technical value. Must work across sister organizations (dozens) to spot overall technical synergies to grow the overall corporation. Must be comfortable being Mott’s technology champion in front of customers and develop rapid pathways to a solution for the customer, including working with customers, suppliers and government partners. Outcomes Lead a safety‑first culture throughout the technical organization to ensure generation and closure of 200 safety opportunities annually. Develop a technical roadmap capable of doubling EBITDA within a three‑year window; deliver roadmap milestones with 90% on‑time delivery or better. Within 180 days, define the current state organization, identify missing skills/talent, and implement plans for key employee development. Use customer relationships to drive at least three innovations quarterly in each of the top markets; cascade customer need into the team for action. Achieve 98%+ on‑time delivery of product launches within 10% of estimated cost. Lead continuous improvement and daily management to improve technical execution and ensure on‑time delivery of new products and capabilities. Define company IP strategy. Education and Experience Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. PhD is a plus. MBA is a plus. 15+ years of industry experience in a highly engineered solutions environment. Experience in semiconductor, space exploration, or defense industries is a plus. Preferred candidates have five or more years of executive technical leadership, a proven track record of IP generation and management, experience with government grants and funding, and a proven track record of deriving technical value pre‑sale to help commercial teams capture eight‑figure or above value. Total Rewards Compensation range: $203,600.00 – $305,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan.
