Senior Accountant & Client Advisory Lead

Location: Gig Harbor, WA

Compensation: $85,000-$105,000 annually, based on experience, technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and client advisory experience.

You'll oversee your own portfolio of clients while helping strengthen our accounting department through technical expertise, workflow optimization, staff development, and cross-department collaboration.

What You'll Do:

• Lead Client Accounting Relationships: Manage a portfolio of business clients while serving as their primary accounting advisor, ensuring financial records are accurate, timely, and prepared to support tax compliance, business planning, and informed decision-making.
• Provide Technical Accounting Leadership: Serve as the firm's accounting subject matter expert by reviewing complex accounting issues, assisting with cleanup projects, and providing guidance on proper accounting treatment across a variety of business entities, including sole proprietorships, LLCs, partnerships, S corporations, corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Work closely with our tax professionals to ensure financial statements are tax-ready and accounting decisions align with reporting and compliance requirements.
• Mentor & Develop the Team: Support the growth of our accounting team by reviewing work, answering technical questions, providing coaching, and helping establish consistent accounting standards and best practices. Share knowledge through team meetings, internal training, and one-on-one mentoring while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Improve Systems & Processes: Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency through technology, automation, and standardized procedures. Help develop internal processes, documentation, and training materials that allow our team to deliver exceptional client service at scale.
• Lead Client Onboarding: Partner with prospective and new clients to evaluate their accounting needs, establish efficient workflows, implement accounting systems, and ensure a smooth transition into our service model before coordinating the ongoing relationship with the appropriate accounting team member.
• Collaborate Across the Firm: Work closely with our bookkeeping, payroll, HR support, business consulting, and tax teams to provide clients with seamless, proactive service and identify opportunities for additional support as their businesses grow.

What You'll Bring:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, plus progressive accounting experience.
• Five or more years of professional accounting experience, preferably serving multiple business clients.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across multiple business entity structures.
• Experience preparing tax-ready financial statements and collaborating with tax professionals.
• Ability to analyze complex accounting issues and develop practical solutions.
• Experience mentoring, training, or leading accounting staff.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple client needs.
• A collaborative mindset, professional judgment, and commitment to exceptional client service.
