ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

DutiesHelpOperates D5, D-6, D-7 and D-8 type bulldozers, frontend loaders, bucket crawlers and excavators to unload, place, move, and breakup shore pipe and move or level off sand and other dredged material.Performs preventive maintenance such as checking oil and water, battery, gauges, and condition of tracks. Oils and greases machinery and performs routine operating maintenance duties.Inspects and documents all equipment assigned. Notifies supervisor of mechanical failures and recommending repairs required.Operates powered hoists, capstans, winches and outboard motors on the dredge and attendant plant.Handles and fastens mooring lines and towing cables for making up and breaking of tows; securing attendant pieces of plant; mooring barges.When assigned to a hydraulic dredge, connects, disconnects, repairs and replaces pipeline and shifting pontoons.Removes obstructions from suction head and pipeline. Straightens and replaces walkways and lines on pontoons.When dredging is completed, using wrenches, power tools and other hand tools to dismantle pipeline and loads on barges.
