Role Description The Associate Veterinarian will provide medical, surgical, and preventive care to, primarily, companion animals, including performing examinations, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, and conducting routine procedures. There is the potential for mixed (production animal) animal practice as well. Daily responsibilities include communicating with clients about diagnoses, treatment options, and home care, as well as maintaining accurate medical records and collaborating with veterinary technicians and support staff. The role also involves participating in patient follow-up, contributing to clinic protocols, and supporting a positive, team-centered work culture. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Le Mars Veterinary Clinic in Le Mars, IA, requiring consistent in-person interaction with clients, patients, and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution and eligibility for Iowa veterinary licensure.
- Clinical proficiency in small animal medicine, including routine examinations, diagnostics, surgery, and preventive care.
- Strong client communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain medical information clearly and compassionately.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a veterinary team, including technicians and support staff, to provide coordinated patient care.
- Commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
- Interest in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and staying current with advances in veterinary medicine.
- Prior experience in a general practice or small animal clinic is a plus but motivated new graduates are encouraged to apply.
