Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller

WorkForce Unlimited is hiring an Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to join our Finance team in Charlotte, NC.

This is a high visibility role for someone who enjoys hands on accounting ownership, team leadership, process improvement, and working closely with operations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable owning core accounting functions while helping build structure, improve workflows, and support continued company growth.

Compensation

$90,000 to $110,000 base salary

Schedule

Hybrid schedule based in Charlotte, NC

In office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Remote Monday and Friday

What You Will Do

Support month end close and help ensure financials are accurate and timely

Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports

Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded correctly

Oversee billing, accounts receivable, collections, and AR aging

Support accounts payable processing and vendor payments

Oversee payroll processes and payroll related reconciliations

Partner with internal teams to resolve billing, payroll, payment, and reporting issues

Manage and support accounting, payroll, and billing team workflows

Help improve processes, document SOPs, and create stronger cross training

Support system and process improvements across TempWorks, Acumatica, Concur, Fieldglass, and timekeeping systems

What We Are Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

5 plus years of progressive accounting experience

Experience managing, mentoring, or supporting accounting staff preferred

Strong general ledger, month end close, and financial reporting experience

Experience with payroll, billing, accounts receivable, collections, and accounts payable

Strong Excel skills

Experience with accounting, payroll, ERP, or staffing related systems

Ability to work in a fast paced, growth focused environment

Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow through

High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality

Ideal Background

This role could be a strong fit for someone currently working as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Accounting Supervisor, Senior Accountant, or similar accounting leader who is ready for more ownership and growth.

Staffing, workforce solutions, professional services, consulting, field services, facilities services, or other service based industry experience is highly preferred, especially where payroll and billing are closely connected.
