LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE, EVENING SHIFT

Licensed Practical Nurse - Evening/Overnight ShiftThe Seminole County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of Licensed Practical Nurse - Evening/Overnight Shift from 1530-0600 (5:30 PM-6:00 AM). Under the supervision of the Providers, this position performs specialized work providing quality care to persons incarcerated in the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. Required document: Each applicant must complete a NOTARIZED Background Investigation Waiver. Failure to submit this document will disqualify your application. The waiver must be notarized and submitted with the pre-screen application. Salary is negotiable based on related training, education, and experience. Applications must be submitted before the closing date of July 21, 2026.Typical DutiesNote: Listed functions, duties, responsibilities, and skills are not intended to be all-inclusive and the employer reserves the right to assign additional responsibilities as deemed necessary for the operational efficiency of the Sheriff's Office.Interviews and conducts initial screening on new inmates to obtain medical information/screeningProvides initial inmate care as requiredCompletes physical assessments on inmates in accordance with medical protocolDocuments all care and assessments per policyPerforms a variety of healthcare and diagnostic procedures and tests to include vital signs, injections, IV insertion, phlebotomy procedures, PPD insertion and readings, urinalysis, wound care, and blood sugar tests within the scope of practice and licensureReviews physician transcription, lab results, and electronic medical records to ensure prescribed treatments are administeredAdministers medications as directedLogs use of medical supplies including administered medications, needles, syringes, keys, and medical instruments per policyAssists physician when seeing patients and transcribing physician orders. Provides emergency care to inmates or staff as requiredMaintains drug, narcotic, and sharps counts in accordance with division policies and proceduresPrepares, maintains, and scans medical documents as neededDocuments encounters in the electronic medical record using the approved SOAPE formatMay be assigned special projects as requiredPerforms other duties as assigned to fulfill the needs of the divisionMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GEDMust possess and maintain a State of Florida license as a Licensed Practical NurseMust possess and maintain current licensure and CPR, OSHA updates, and CEU certifications as required for licensure and accreditationMust possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills, Abilities & OtherRegular and prompt attendance is mandatory in the performance of an employee's duties for this position, to include scheduled work hours, and required training activities, calls for mandatory overtime needs and calls for service during times of an emergency. Knowledge of general nursing methods and practices, including public health and communicable diseases. Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior. Ability to solve problems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with superiors and the medical community. Ability to lift at least twenty-five pounds in the performance of daily duties.WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment for this position is within the confines of the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. This position has direct contact with inmates.
