The Residential Supervisor reports to the Integrated Care Coordinator and plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the health, wellness, and fulfillment of individuals across the agency in our residential programs. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of program operations, from medical appointments and staff management to daily schedules, meals, and community activities. Supervisors foster a supportive and structured environment, empower direct care staff, and ensure that each individual's voice is respected and their potential nurtured—aligned with Genesis Community Homes’ mission.

 
They are involved with the day to day workings of each program and is aware of strengths and weaknesses in the program and with the staff .  The supervisor manages staff call outs, schedule changes, staff evaluations/appreciation and disciplinary actions.  The supervisor is an effective listener who can structure activities and supports  for the fulfillment of each individual in their program (ie.. trips, outings, menus, etc.).  This person is self motivated with integrity, able to be an active part of a team and works with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities Program Oversight
·       Maintain a strong understanding of 6400 regulations applicable to residential programming
·       Build and sustain healthy relationships with individuals in the program
·       Enforce individualized supports: prompting, modeling, hands-on training
·       Schedule and track all medical appointments (PCP, dental, vision, sick, follow-ups)
·       Review and maintain medical documentation and binders
·       Maintain and update all binders in the programs for staff information
·       Updates the appointment tracker
·       Ensures the cleanliness of the program
 
Staff Management and Training
·       Conduct interviews and support onboarding and orientation of new staff
·       Staff affairs (evaluations, discipline & encouragement)
·       Facilitate staff meetings and ensure clear, regular communication
·       Is the practicum Observer (medication administration)
·        Checks all medication deliveries for accuracy (and conducts random audits)
·       Manage staff call outs using the ‘WhenIWork’ platform, and find coverage where needed 

 
Supervisory Functions
·       Spends time in the programs to give direction and provide support to the staff
·       Incident Management point person
·       Certified Investigator
·       HRST rater to assist the Integrated Care Coordinator 
·       Schedule & review monthly fire drills
·       Review of daily service notes and shift reports  
·       Schedule weekly social/fun community activities (including weekends)
·       Manage PEX spending (upload receipts)
·       Create menus based on individual’s dietary needs and coordinate purchase of weekly shopping
·       On-Call rotation
·       Covering of short shifts as required
·       Oversee vehicle health and maintenance

Job Specifications

 
EDUCATION: High School Diploma 

 
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years in a supervisory role, with direct experience supporting adults with
intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses.

 
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams and email. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's
license and be at least 21 years of age.

 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Regularly requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs,
cleaning. Often requires lifting of weight up to 50lbs. Requires physical ability to successfully perform
CPR, First Aid techniques.  Attend medical appointments, drive between programs and the office, be on
call (rotation) and work extra hours as needed. 

 
TRAINING : Completion of mandatory licensing trainings, eBadge curriculum for Frontline Supervisors,
and leadership development modules

 
LEVEL OF SUPERVISION : Limited. This position reports directly to the Integrated Care Coordinator

 
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE : 
·       Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated.  
·       May occasionally work outside while instructing outdoor activities or community outings. 
·       Occasionally exposed to equipment and machinery with moving parts. 
·       Exposed to household cleaning supplies. 
·       Protective equipment: gloves, protective eyewear, disposable masks, disposable gown, and close-toed shoes. 
·       Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and COVID 19.
