Position Overview:

ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for an immediate full-time opportunity with Giles County School District. This position offers the opportunity to provide direct interpreting services for a student transitioning to high school, ensuring full access to academic instruction and educational opportunities throughout the school day. The ideal candidate will have strong interpreting skills and experience with technical terminology commonly used in secondary-level coursework, including Algebra, English, History, and other core academic subjects.

Monday – Friday, School Hours

Key Responsibilities:

Provide sign language interpretation services for a student transitioning to high school
Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, peers, and school staff
Interpret instructional content accurately across various academic subjects, including Algebra, English, History, and other core coursework
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics
Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure the student has equal access to classroom instruction and school activities
Support academic success by accurately conveying complex and technical subject-specific terminology
Participate in meetings and educational planning sessions as needed
Maintain accurate service documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines

Qualifications:

Active Sign Language Interpreter certification and/or state-required credentials
Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred
Strong knowledge of academic and technical terminology at the secondary education level
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with educational teams
Experience supporting students in high school settings preferred

Special Requirements:

Onsite services preferred
Must be comfortable interpreting advanced academic content and subject-specific terminology
Experience working with high school students or students transitioning to high school is highly preferred
Ability to accurately interpret coursework in subjects such as Algebra, English, and History
