Staff Equipment Engineer

Role Overview Bloom Energy is a clean‑energy technology company dedicated to providing reliable, affordable power solutions. We are looking for a Staff Equipment Engineer to support and enhance our manufacturing operations in Newark, DE. Responsibilities Support equipment across various manufacturing lines, diagnosing and fixing issues in both mechanical and electronic components. Provide support for automated equipment, including PLC and HMI programming for motion and servo control systems, and modify existing control logic to improve safety, performance, or throughput. Participate in commissioning of new automated equipment and ensure all devices function as designed. Install, commission, and support vision systems for tracking and quality inspections. Conduct engineering tasks in mechanical, electrical, and structural systems for testing, material handling, welding, and machining equipment. Oversee equipment installation, start‑up, and implementation projects. Develop equipment specifications and documents for manufacturing assembly, testing, and material handling processes. Manage project timelines, financial planning, and prepare comprehensive status reports for leadership. Collaborate with vendors, facility engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to manage project implementation and drive improvements in safety, cost, efficiency, and quality. Prepare or approve system as‑built drawings. Work flexible hours, including off‑shifts and weekends, as required. Qualifications B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing or equipment engineer. Proficiency in troubleshooting automated equipment and systems. Functional knowledge of PLCs, low‑voltage controls, three‑phase power distribution, industrial control panels, electronic sensors, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Experience in equipment requirement development and specification writing. Knowledge of ergonomic and machine safety standards. Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office suite. Strong communication skills, both written and public speaking. Physical Requirements Ability to stand or walk for up to 4 hours per shift. Traverse stairs and navigate throughout the facility. Occasional lift or carry up to 15 pounds. Visual acuity sufficient for product inspection, computer editing, and review of digital/printed materials. Hearing ability to detect alarms and communicate effectively with staff. Ability to perform essential tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
