Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a pediatric OR position requiring ophthalmology, neuro, and ENT scrub experience.

Details

• Pediatric OR setting within a children's hospital
• 3x12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with possible modification to 4x9-hour shifts to accommodate a sister unit
• On-call requirement of 3-6 shifts per 4-week schedule period
• Weekend coverage required around holidays
• Possible holiday call requirement to support transplant cases
• Float requirement within scope to sister units or sister facilities as needed
• Common procedures include Lap Appy, Ortho Trauma, Polytrauma, and Craniotomy
• EPIC EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of continuous scrub experience required
• Experience required in ophthalmology, neuro, and ENT procedures with both pediatric and adult populations
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA certification required
• License required if applicable
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• Social security number required for consideration

Additional Information

• Work within a Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching facility, and Magnet-designated hospital
• Main OR includes 21 suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Nursing team structure includes 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• First-time travelers accepted
• Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the facility for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius
• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
• Non-billable orientation modules averaging 4 hours must be completed pre-start
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration for scheduling approval
• Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
