Manager Data Engineering

We're partnering with a fast-growing financial services company looking to hire a Manager, Data Engineering to lead the continued evolution of its modern data platform. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine technical expertise with people leadership, helping shape the team's data engineering strategy while remaining close to architecture, platform design, and delivery. You'll lead a small team of engineers, partner with stakeholders across the business, and build the scalable data infrastructure that powers critical business decisions. What You'll Do Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional development Design, build, and oversee scalable end-to-end data pipelines and ELT workflows Define data engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles Build and optimize data models that support analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making Own the reliability, scalability, and performance of the organization's data platform Drive improvements in data quality, testing, monitoring, and observability Collaborate with Product, Analytics, Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver high-impact data solutions Prioritize technical initiatives, manage delivery, and remove blockers for the engineering team Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve platform performance and scalability Remain hands-on with architecture, code reviews, and complex technical challenges What We're Looking For 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering Previous experience leading or mentoring Data Engineers Expert SQL skills, including performance optimization and complex data transformations Commercial experience with Snowflake Hands-on experience with dbt Experience building and orchestrating pipelines using Airflow or similar tools Experience developing cloud-native data platforms, ideally within AWS Strong understanding of modern data architecture, ELT, and dimensional modeling Excellent communication skills with experience partnering across technical and business teams Nice to Have Experience within Financial Services or FinTech Experience with Fivetran or similar ingestion tools CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code exposure Experience scaling data engineering teams or establishing engineering best practices Why Join?
