Surface Grinder

Grinding TechnicianThe Grinding Technician is responsible for setup, operation, in-process inspection, and troubleshooting of grinding equipment to produce high-precision components that meet customer specifications and quality standards. This role supports finishing operations from setup through final In Process inspection and plays a critical role in maintaining tight tolerances and superior surface finishes while contributing to continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up, align, and operate Blanchard Grinders and Rotary Surface GrindersRead and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specificationsSelect grinding wheels, machine settings, and tooling for optimal performancePerform wheel dressing, balancing, machine adjustments, and basic preventive maintenanceInspect parts during production using calipers, micrometers, indicators, pin gauges, and Keyence measurement systemsMaintain tight tolerances, surface finish requirements, and quality standardsTroubleshoot dimensional, quality, and process-related issuesDocument production data, inspection results, scrap, and job information in Excel and ERP systems (Invex)Support lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S initiativesLoad, unload, stage, clean, inspect, and package finished parts as neededFollow all company safety, OSHA, and environmental policiesRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED2+ years of experience in grinding, machining, or precision manufacturingAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsExperience using precision measurement and inspection equipmentStrong math skills, including fractions, decimals, and metric-to-imperial conversionsExcellent attention to detail and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience operating Blanchard Grinders and Rotary Surface GrindersExperience in a precision machining, aerospace, metals, or manufacturing environmentKnowledge of grinding wheels, dressing techniques, and surface finish requirementsFamiliarity with ERP systems and production reportingSkills & CompetenciesPrecision GrindingSurface GrindingBlueprint ReadingGD&T InterpretationQuality InspectionTroubleshooting & Root Cause AnalysisPreventive MaintenanceLean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement5S MethodologyTeamwork & CommunicationPhysical RequirementsLift up to 50 lbs occasionallyFrequent handling of tools, components, and inspection equipmentAbility to stand for extended periods and perform detailed inspection workWork EnvironmentManufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, coolants, and metalworking operations.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
