Quality Technician II

Responsibilities Processes inbound or outbound FAI and deliverable submissions accurately and timely, including receipt and analysis of parts and supporting documentation, completion of records and logs, communication of submission status to QEs, managers, engineers or interested parties, processing of parts after completion, and maintenance of related records and files. Conducts selective inspection under the direction of the QE group, including receipt and verification of material, maintenance of related documentation, communication of inspection results, and processing of material after verification using Agile/Oracle database. Processes internal non-conforming material in support of QE, including retrieval and analysis, interpretation of preliminary findings, restatement of problem statements, processing through NC procedures, communication of status to concerned parties, and maintenance of necessary documentation with internal and external suppliers. Provides general QE support including communication, Corrective Action Request processing, product evaluation, and sorting activities, interfacing with other team members to support continuous improvement initiatives using A3 and Six Sigma DMAIC forms. Supports DCMA Source Inspection process. Coordinates with Shipping and Contracts department to ensure timely delivery. Creates the Final Inspection documentation package (e.g., COC, TDRs) and supports internal/external customer inspection as needed. Represents and supports QEs during internal and third-party audits regarding essential functions and measurement/documentation systems. Develops and maintains process instructions for quality-related activities. Performs semi-routine assignments and other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience) High School Diploma or GED 1–2 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Demonstrated expertise in mechanical inspection methods and skills including surface plate work, hand tools, and gauges Ability to read and understand drawing requirements with knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to ANSI Y14.5 Basic knowledge of FAI validation and verification process requirements Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel) Basic knowledge of engineering drawings and specification systems Ability to complete flight test documentation Ability to document non-conformances clearly Skills to perform pre- and post-flight visual inspections on flight hardware and components Ability to remove and replace field replaceable components on aircraft and document flight test results in Excel Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Willingness to travel to remote flying sites daily Valid California driver’s license with clean driving record Willingness to work overtime Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies 2-year technical degree preferred; quality system courses and/or equivalent experience AS9100 quality management system experience and/or internal audit experience preferred Strong ability to record and manage data, records, files, and documents Analytical problem-solving skills, with strong organizational, time-management, interpersonal, and communication abilities Time-management and prioritization skills Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Initiative and ownership of work products Commitment to learning from mistakes and improving performance Focus on teamwork and collaboration Physical Demands Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during flight test activity (frequent) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move objects of varying shapes and sizes (frequent) Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands to operate a computer and keyboard (frequent) Clearance Level No Clearance ITAR and Export Regulations This position requires access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR compliance.
