Cardiac surgery intensive care unit. Must have CSICU/CVICU experience at level 1 facility. EPIC required, no exceptions.

Interdisciplinary Support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Lift Teams, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy

Patient Diagnoses: 14-bed CSICU. Nursing assignments include 1-2 pts with diagnoses: CABGs, valve repair/replacements, aortic surgeries, VADs, total artificial hearts, and heart/liver/kidney transplants. Thoracic cases/esophagectomy and vascular surgeries.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Provide oversight for circulatory assist devices to include: include Heartmate II and Heartmate III LVAD, CentriMag RVAD/LVAD, Heartware HVAD, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and the Total Artificial Heart.

Required skills/experience (at least 3's on the skills checklist): CRRT, IABP, Recover post-op cardio-thoracic surgery, ECMO, Level I trauma experience and academic facility experience, Invasive hemodynamic monitoring

Will consider surgical trauma ICU nurses if they have level I trauma experience, academic facility experience and are very strong in the above skills.

Special Equipment: EndotoolNXSTAGE CRRT (specific experience with NXSTAGE not required)

Minimum 1 year experience required. VA or compact state must be in hand at time of submittal. Locals accepted at same base rate. No radius rules for applicants. 2 References Required. BSN preferred. EPIC charting experience required.

Return Staff Policy: Both travelers and permanent staff must be gone for one year before being eligible to return as a traveler. VCU has a natural nail policy. All ER and Psych candidates are required to submit to fingerprinting as outlined in the code of Virginia, 37.1-183.3. The average turnaround time for the results is 15-20 business days. Candidates are NOT allowed to start with results pending. Please plan start dates accordingly.

Modules: All VCU candidates will be assigned modules during orientation on the VCU Learning Exchange. Modules are non-billable, average 6 hours of modules factored in NBO. Modules are completed during orientation, and vary by specialty. Modules are required to be completed while working on their unit by the Friday of their orientation week.
