Benefits Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and employee-focused Benefits Specialist to manage and support the administration of employee benefits programs. This position will serve as a key resource for employees and management, ensuring benefits are administered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations. Compensation for this position is $55,000–$75,000 per year , depending on experience, benefits administration expertise, certifications, and qualifications. Key Responsibilities Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and other company-sponsored benefits. Assist employees with benefit enrollment, eligibility, qualifying life events, and benefit-related questions. Manage new-hire benefits enrollment and employee changes, ensuring accurate and timely processing. Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, communications, materials, and employee education. Maintain accurate employee benefits records and HRIS information. Work closely with insurance carriers, brokers, vendors, and payroll to resolve benefits issues. Review benefit invoices and assist with reconciliation and discrepancy resolution. Monitor employee eligibility and ensure benefits changes are processed correctly. Support compliance with applicable benefits laws and regulations. Prepare benefits reports, audits, and documentation for HR leadership. Assist with leave, disability, and other benefit-related processes when applicable. Protect confidential employee and benefits information. Respond to employee inquiries professionally and within established service standards. Help identify opportunities to improve benefits processes, employee communications, and overall benefits administration. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR, payroll, or a related field. Strong understanding of employee benefits and enrollment processes. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and/or Google Workspace. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience with benefits administration platforms and HRIS systems. Knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ERISA, ACA, and other applicable regulations. Experience coordinating open enrollment. Benefits-related certification such as CEBS, PHR, or SHRM certification is a plus. Experience working with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators.
