Specialty Pharmacy AssistantThis position supports Hennepin Healthcare's Specialty Pharmacy, located in the Purple 1 building. The Specialty Pharmacy Assistant will support mailing and delivery operations for the pharmacy department, along with various other functions. Under the supervision of other Pharmacy staff, the Pharmacy Assistant provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service in a fast work environment in a community pharmacy setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks (waiting on customers, putting away medications, performing clerical duties, etc.) every day. Assist technicians and pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of prescription medications.Responsibilities include:Providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all patient interactionsHandling cash register transactions accurately and efficientlyHandling inquiries that do not require a certified pharmacy technician or pharmacist's expertise and judgmentPreparing prescriptions to be mailed or couriered to patientsPlacing completed prescription orders in the appropriate location of the will-call binsFiling paper prescriptions after they have been dispensedStocking pharmacy medications and supplies received from distributor/wholesaler and refilling vials, paper and labels in the printers, and other general clerical duties as assignedAssisting with returning unclaimed prescriptions from will-call to pharmacy stockTubing completed discharge medications to the floors for patients leaving the hospitalAssisting with checking pharmacy shelves for medication outdates as determined by pharmacy procedureMaintaining cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing areaSmiling and greeting patients in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere
