Summary/Objective

The Barista is responsible for educating customers about our premium coffees and teas and serving all products in a friendly, individualized manner attention towards each customer.  The barista will fulfill any other duties the senior leader and/or supervisor assigns and will represent The Bodacious Family of Shops in a professional manner in adherence to all company policies and standards of behavior.

Essential Functions

1. Sells and serves products to customers in a courteous and friendly manner

2. Participates in all sales promotions effectively and efficiently

3. Safely handles all hot and cold drinks during drink preparation

4. Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner

5. Responds pro-actively to prevent customer service situations and reports all complaints to supervisor

6. Responsible for generating sales and cross selling all products and services within The Bodacious Family of Shops

7. Adhere to dress code, standards of behavior, and all company policies, procedures and practices

8. Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers 

in a courteous and friendly manner

9. Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including but not limited to

giving store greeting, directions to store location, receiving and filling customer

orders

10. Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, etc., in a courteous

and friendly manner

11. Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers

12. Maintains efficient, friendly service standards 

13. Follow all opening and closing procedures

14. May work special events and assist in all other departments; as needed with approval of supervisor(s)

15. Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, and takes out trash, etc.

16. Reports potential safety hazards and all employee accidents to the supervisor

17. Performs all other duties as requested or directed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Maintain professional attitude and appearance at all times

2. Well-organized and detail-oriented with all guest services

3. Required to stand, walk, and lift items (up to 30 lbs.) on a regular basis

4. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed 

5. Excellent communication skills 

6. Ability to work as part of a team  

7. Ability to build relationships with customers

  Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED and one to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part time position.  Days and hours will vary to include evening and weekend work according to business needs.

Physical Demands

The requirements of this position includes the ability to walk and stand for an extended period of time, bending, stooping, able to lift up to 25 pounds, and the use of standard kitchen equipment.
