Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in recent acute care setting License: Active Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: BLS and NRP, EFM training, Int AWHONN FHM preferred Must-Have Skills/Experience: Experience in a team-based, high acuity environment. Comfortable caring for 2 patients during Labor & Delivery and 3-4 patients on Antepartum. Strong skills in fetal monitoring and interpretation. Ability to independently manage laboring patients, including high-risk obstetric cases. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management skills. Description: The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and immediate postpartum patients. This role requires strong clinical judgment and independence. Experience managing routine and high-risk obstetric patients is essential. The registered nurse collaborates closely with obstetric providers, anesthesia, and interdisciplinary teams. The focus is on delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care throughout the labor and birth process. The unit has a high volume of deliveries each year, requiring adaptability to new workflows and electronic medical records. Candidates should possess the ability to adapt quickly to changing policies and guidelines. Strong skills in medication administration, IV therapy, and rapid response to obstetric emergencies are necessary.
