Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Job Summary

Join a dynamic Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) team at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This 64-bed unit, including 15 designated Neuro beds, provides comprehensive care to adult patients (18 years and older) with a wide range of complex medical conditions.

The IMCU specializes in managing patients with diagnoses such as neurological disorders, cardiac conditions (including MI and CV stepdown), trauma, respiratory issues (COPD, chronic vents), DKA, and sepsis, as well as post-operative care. This role requires a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse capable of providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced monitoring and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to adult patients in an Intermediate Care Unit setting.
• Monitor and manage patients with complex diagnoses including neurological, cardiac, trauma, respiratory (COPD, chronic vents), DKA, sepsis, MI, CV stepdown, and post-operative conditions.
• Operate and manage specialized equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo.
• Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for the care of chronic ventilator patients.
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Float to other units as required to support patient care needs across the facility.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
